In a celebration of curiosity, dedication, and environmental stewardship, ten remarkable young scholars have been announced as finalists for the prestigious Frank Ski Kids Foundation 2024 Planet Green Science Expedition to Australia.
For two decades, the Frank Ski Kids Foundation has been a beacon of empowerment, guiding young minds to explore the world, cultivate their passions, and foster invaluable life skills through unique educational adventures. This year, the Foundation’s Planet Green Science Expedition garnered nationwide attention, with essays pouring in from students across Frank Ski’s rapidly expanding radio network, spanning from Atlanta to New York.
On Monday, April 8, at The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, the ten finalists from the local area were met with anticipation and excitement as they awaited the announcement of the five winners who would embark on an extraordinary journey to study the Effects of Climate Change on The Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The trip, fully funded by the Foundation, encompasses all expenses, including passports, roundtrip flights, apparel, and lodging, from June 17th to the 26th.
Among the finalists are Jamal Smith, Maya Patel, Elijah Johnson, Sophia Rodriguez, Tyler Washington, Olivia Nguyen, Aiden Jackson, Ava Thompson, Carter Brown, and Isabella Garcia. These young scholars, aged 13 to 15, represent a diverse array of backgrounds and perspectives, united by their passion for environmental conservation and scientific inquiry.
“This expedition is not just a trip; it’s an opportunity for these bright minds to witness firsthand the impact of climate change on one of the world’s most precious ecosystems,” remarked Frank Ski, founder of the Frank Ski Kids Foundation. “We are proud to support these students as they embark on this transformative journey.”
The announcement of the winners coincides with the upcoming 20th Annual Celebrity Wine Tasting and Live Auction fundraiser for the 2024 Planet Green Science Expedition, scheduled for Sunday, May 5, at Factory Atlanta. Tickets for the event are available now at Frankskikids.org, offering supporters the chance to contribute to the Foundation’s mission of empowering youth through education and exploration.
In another exciting development, Frank Ski will release the first single, “Amazon Sunrise (Lovely Day),” on Earth Day, April 22nd. The track serves as the inaugural release from “Climate Change,” a 9-track ambient soundtrack inspired by and recorded during the Foundation’s explorations. With meticulous attention to detail, Frank Ski captures the essence of each destination, offering listeners a sensory journey through sound.
As the world eagerly anticipates the winners of the 2024 Planet Green Science Expedition, the Frank Ski Kids Foundation continues to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders, fostering a deep appreciation for our planet and its wonders.
