Castleberry Hill’s Wine Shoe hosted an intimate Diwali celebration on October 24, gathering over 50 Wine Shoe members, friends, and family for a night of wine and culture. Guests sipped prosecco, chardonnay, and a red blend while sampling traditional Diwali treats, including penda, a beloved Indian sweet made with milk, sugar, and saffron.
Owner Krishna Chapatwala welcomed her guests and shared the significance of Diwali, a festival marking the victory of good over evil. “I want to share a part of my culture with my Wine Shoe members, patrons, neighbors, and guests,” she said, embracing the opportunity to bridge her heritage with her Atlanta community.
Chapatwala’s parents attended, thrilled to see their daughter share her Indian roots and hospitality—a family tradition, as her parents ran a motel and restaurant. Even the family’s rescue dog, Cinna, made an appearance, delighting guests as usual with his friendly greetings. Cinna, rescued from PAWS Atlanta, represented a heartfelt connection to the event’s charity drive, where all donations and tasting bar tips supported PAWS, Atlanta’s oldest no-kill shelter.
Chapatwala’s mission for Wine Shoe goes beyond tasting and selling wine. Her curated selection of unique, small-production labels brings a sense of discovery to every bottle, making them ideal gifts for seasoned enthusiasts and curious newcomers alike. With her commitment to creating memorable experiences, this Diwali event offered her community a warm blend of tradition, flavor, and purpose.
