Rolling Out Celebrates Black History Month with RIDE CON AI Lab

Rolling Out’s RIDE CON AI Lab will present an immersive exploration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College on February 23rd and 24th, coinciding with Black History Month. This event aims to delve into various AI-related topics, such as its role in creative music production, the rise of machine learning, and the implications of personal artificial assistants. Black representation in AI is deemed crucial for combating biases, fostering inclusivity, and empowering the black community. Presently, AI-generated imagery often lacks diversity, with searches for images of black women on platforms like MidJourney yielding results primarily featuring white women. This lack of accurate representation exacerbates biases and sustains the underrepresentation of black individuals across various fields.

The RIDE Lab is set to host an array of distinguished speakers, including John Pasmore, CEO of Latimore, an AI platform designed specifically for the African-American community. Pasmore’s noteworthy contributions, developed in collaboration with several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), such as Morgan State University, underscore the event’s dedication to advancing technological innovation within the African-American community. Marlon Avery, CEO of AI Impact, a tech firm, will conduct an immersive ‘lunch and learn’ session. Avery will explore the transformative potential of AI and synthetic language models, examining their capacity to equalize opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. The keynote address will be delivered by Van Lathan, host of the Higher Frequency podcast, who will discuss the reinvention of the Internet through AI and the ongoing digital revolution. Additionally, prominent tech entities, including Google, will participate, offering exclusive insights into the employment landscape, growth opportunities, and the role of AI within and beyond professional realms.

On Friday, February 23rd, the RIDE Lab will commence with opening remarks by Dr. Rashad Richey, President of Rolling Out, during a live broadcast at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College. Acknowledging his significant contributions to the music industry, the RIDE CON AI Lab will pay tribute to super producer Tricky Stewart. A celebration of Stewart’s impressive collection of hits will be held on Saturday night at Morehouse College.

Rolling Out’s CEO, Munson Steed, emphasized, “Our dedication to the community is paramount. We are providing this free, AI business training and information exchange for our community at my alma mater, Morehouse College. We have eliminated price barriers that many are imposing on our community to access this valuable information because we recognize that this information is essential for our survival. Entrepreneurs, executives, parents, CEOs of nonprofits—AI is imperative for anyone seeking knowledge, and our community leaders are catalysts for the improvement of our community as a whole.”
