MomoCon 2025 concluded its four-day Memorial Day weekend convention with a record-breaking 59,222 unique visitors, marking the largest attendance in the event’s 20-year history. The multi-genre convention, celebrating cosplay, animation, gaming, and music, also made a significant charitable impact, donating $12,500 to the Johnson STEM Activity Center and bringing over 900 underserved youth to the event through partnerships with 11 Atlanta-area nonprofit organizations.
Record Attendance and Charitable Giving
The 2025 convention’s official charity, the Johnson STEM Activity Center, received a total donation of $12,500. This sum included more than $5,000 raised through specialty merchandise sales and custom events, supplemented by an additional $7,500 in matching funds from MomoCon.
Further demonstrating its commitment to the community, MomoCon partnered with a diverse group of Atlanta nonprofits, including Scouting America, Horizons Atlanta, ReImagine ATL, the New Media Education Foundation of Georgia, Purpose Possible, Lekotek, Focus, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlanta, Wellroot Family Services, and the YMCA. These collaborations enabled more than 900 children in need to experience the convention.
Significant Economic Boost for Atlanta
According to the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, MomoCon 2025 was projected to inject an estimated $42.4 million into the metro Atlanta economy over the Memorial Day Weekend, solidifying its position as a major tourism driver for the city.
MomoCon: A Growing Hub for Pop Culture
As one of the fastest-growing “all ages” conventions in the United States, MomoCon offers a diverse array of attractions for fans of Japanese Anime, American Animation, Comics, and Gaming (video games, esports, tabletop, LARP). This year’s milestone marked 20 years of MomoCon in Atlanta, growing from an initial 700-person campus event to the largest of its kind in the southeastern U.S.
Attendees enjoyed a massive 300,000+ square foot open game hall – the second largest in the U.S. – featuring arcades, esports stages, PC and LAN gaming, console tournaments, and freeplay. Over 90,000 square feet were dedicated to tabletop games, board games, card games, role-playing games, and miniatures, with instructors on hand to teach new and classic titles. The convention also boasted 300,000 square feet for celebrity autographs, vendors, workshops, and both international and indie game developers.

A highlight for attendees was the opportunity to meet celebrity guests, including:
- Darryl McDaniels (RunDMC), comic book and children’s book author.
- Shadia Amin, Colombian cartoonist and SCAD graduate based in Atlanta.
- Greg Burnham (Norcross, GA), comic book writer known for “Tuskegee Heirs.”
- Brian Stelfreeze, comic book artist (Batman, Black Panther) and original member of Atlanta’s Gaijin Studios.

Looking Ahead: MomoCon 2026 Expansion
MomoCon organizers are already planning for a larger convention in 2026. For its 21st year, MomoCon will expand into both Hall A and Hall B, increasing its total exhibit and gaming space to a massive 1,045,178 square feet.
