Laverne Cox and George Wallace Praise Georgia Crews for ‘Clean Slate’ Production

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Emmy-nominated actress Laverne Cox and legendary comedian George Wallace credit the professional and supportive crews in Georgia for making their filming experience on the new Prime Video comedy series Clean Slate unforgettable.

The production, which was filmed in Savannah, Brunswick, and Thunderbolt, Ga., chose its locations carefully, showcasing the region’s picturesque charm and vibrant community. Cox and Wallace praised the dedication of local crews, highlighting their commitment to excellence.

“Filming in Savannah was an incredible experience,” said Cox. “The professionalism and warmth of the crews made all the difference.” Wallace echoed her sentiment, adding, “Georgia has some of the best folks in the business. The locations, the energy—it all came together beautifully.”

Clean Slate follows Harry (Wallace), an old-school Alabama car wash owner, who is surprised when his estranged child returns home after 17 years—now a proud trans woman named Desiree (Cox). As they navigate their second chance at family, the series brings together a cast of colorful characters, exploring themes of love and acceptance through comedy inspired by Norman Lear’s signature storytelling.

The series is created and executive produced by Cox, Wallace, and Dan Ewen (Dear Santa, Playing with Fire). Executive producers include Emmy winners Norman Lear (Act III Productions) and Brent Miller. Ewen co-showruns with executive producer Simran Baidwan. Paul Hilepo serves as a producer. Also joining the cast are Telma Hopkins, D.K. Uzoukwu, Jay Wilkison, and Norah Murphy.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, Clean Slate is now streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
