HBO has given a seven-episode order to DTF St. Louis, a new limited drama series created by showrunner, writer, and director Steven Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Patriot).

The series stars Jason Bateman and David Harbour, who will also serve as executive producers.

DTF St. Louis is a darkly comedic exploration of a love triangle between three adults grappling with middle-age malaise. As their complicated relationships unfold, one of them ends up dead, setting the stage for a gripping mix of humor, suspense, and emotional turmoil.

Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, shares her enthusiasm for the project: “We are tremendously excited to work with the brilliant auteur Steve Conrad, whose singularity of vision lies central to all his work as a storyteller. With David Harbour and Jason Bateman at the center, two masterful titans in their own right, we couldn’t be more emboldened by the journey ahead and look forward to sharing this special, emotionally provocative piece with the world.”

Conrad, known for his ability to craft deeply human and intricately layered characters, brings his distinct voice to DTF St. Louis. The series boasts a strong team of executive producers, including Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch for Escape Artists, Bruce Terris, and Michael Costigan for Bateman’s Aggregate Films, alongside Kristina Wenson for Bravo Axolotl and James Lasdun.

Produced by MGM Television in association with Aggregate Films, DTF St. Louis explores the complexities of adult relationships, identity, and the emotional turbulence that comes with confronting middle age. The series promises sharp dialogue, unexpected twists, and the dark, absurd humor for which Conrad is known.

Filming is set to begin soon, with DTF St. Louis expected to premiere on HBO in the near future. With its powerhouse cast and creative team, the series has already generated significant buzz, leaving audiences eager for this emotionally charged and darkly comedic journey
