ALLBLK, the popular streaming service from AMC Networks, has officially wrapped filming on its highly anticipated original feature film Operation: Aunties.

Directed by the multi-talented Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game), the action-packed dramedy is set to premiere exclusively on the platform in 2025.

Operation: Aunties follows the journey of two longtime friends—Dr. Carol Cleavers (Melissa De Sousa, The Best Man), a risk-averse cryptocurrency expert, and Sharon O’Hara (Tisha Campbell, Act Your Age), a retired detective—who become unlikely vigilantes after uncovering a cyber-crime syndicate that uses new-age technology to traffic women through a rideshare app.

As they team up with Carol’s tech-savvy niece Aminah James (Amiyah Scott, Star), the trio embarks on a dangerous mission to expose the criminals and bring justice to their city.

Filming, which took place in Atlanta, GA, has concluded, marking a major milestone in the production process. The vibrant city backdrop provided the perfect setting for this high-stakes action thriller with comedic undertones, combining gripping suspense with laugh-out-loud moments.

The talented ensemble cast, led by De Sousa, Campbell, and Scott, brought to life strong, multidimensional Black female characters who embody resilience, empowerment, and heroism in the face of societal issues like human trafficking and cybercrime.

At its core, Operation: Aunties is a celebration of Black women—particularly those from across the diaspora—who consistently rise up as change agents in their communities. Writer and Executive Producer TJ Ali draws inspiration from his own experiences and cultural observations, believing that Black women are often at the forefront of societal change, even when the world doesn’t always see them as the heroes they are.

“We wanted to tell a story that not only entertains but also speaks to real issues affecting our communities today,” Ali said. “Black women have always been the unsung heroes, and now it’s time for the world to see them as the vigilant warriors they already are—empowered, brilliant, and capable of saving the day.”

Ali’s deep connection to the material is evident in every aspect of the production, from the compelling script to the carefully crafted characters that resonate deeply with audiences. The film’s unique blend of edgy action and humor provides an engaging platform to address critical issues such as human trafficking, while also uplifting the stories of Black women who have often been overlooked in mainstream narratives.

According to Brett Dismuke, Head of Content for ALLBLK and We TV, the film is a testament to the network’s dedication to creating diverse, authentic stories that resonate with audiences.

Operation: Aunties combines thrilling action with a deep, meaningful narrative, and we’re so excited for our subscribers to see it,” Dismuke said. “The incredible talent of Melissa, Tisha, and Amiyah shines through, and their performances bring these strong, Black female characters to life in a way that will both inspire and entertain
