BET+ Renews ‘The Ms. Pat Show’ for Season 5

BET+ has announced the renewal of its hit comedy series, The Ms. Pat Show, for a fifth season, following a remarkable run that has garnered critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination.

Alongside the renewal, BET Media Group has expanded its overall deal with Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams, ensuring the collaboration continues across both streaming and linear platforms.

The Ms. Pat Show has been filmed in Georgia, showcasing the state’s vibrant entertainment industry. Production primarily takes place at Tyler Perry Studios and Third Rail Studios, solidifying Georgia’s reputation as a hub for high-quality television production

Since its debut in August 2021, The Ms. Pat Show has captivated audiences and critics alike with its bold, no-holds-barred approach. The series draws from Williams’ own life experiences, which she documented in her memoir, Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. It tells the story of a former drug dealer and convicted felon who navigates life as a suburban mom, presenting a unique take on the classic family sitcom.

Unlike traditional TV comedies, The Ms. Pat Show delivers a refreshingly unfiltered look at a multi-generational African American family as they face modern-day challenges and cultural chaos with humor and honesty.

The show has tackled sensitive subjects like non-binary pronouns, abortion, Black hair, school shootings, drug addiction, racism, and child abuse, incorporating R-rated language and mature themes that make it a trailblazer in today’s television landscape.

The main cast will return for Season 5, including Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams, J. Bernard Calloway, Tami Roman, Vince Swann, Briyana Guadalupe, Theodore John Barnes, and Brittany Inge. Williams will continue her role as executive producer alongside Jordan E. Cooper, Patrick Walsh, Lee Daniels, Brian Grazer, Deb Evans, Jon Radler, and Natalie Berkus. Mary Lou Belli will also return as director, while Rose Catherine Pinkney will serve as co-executive producer for BET+.

The Ms. Pat Show is produced by Imagine Television, DaeLight Media, and Lee Daniels Entertainment, with production set to begin in February 2025. A premiere date for the new season will be announced in the coming months.

Williams’ relationship with BET has only strengthened since she signed a multi-year overall deal in 2022. This deal has already seen her contribute to fan-favorite projects like Ms. Pat Settles It, in which she brings her unique perspective to bear on real-life issues.

With her overall deal extending beyond The Ms. Pat Show, fans can look forward to more content that showcases Williams’ authentic voice and comedic talent across the BET platform.
